Music Ministry
OLR proudly maintains a long tradition of fine liturgical music geared toward
involving the entire assembly in praising God in song. Individuals, couples, and
families of all levels of musical expertise contribute their voices,
instruments, and prayers to our liturgies.
We always welcome new singers and instrumentalists to our music ministry! Like
any musicians, we rehearse in order to sing and play well. Each weekend liturgy
has its own music ministry that rehearses separately from the others. Generally
we rehearse before Mass as well as once during the week. Our rehearsal schedules
are below:
4:45pm Saturday - Wednesdays 7:30-9:30 and Saturdays 4:00-4:45
9:00am Sunday - Tuesdays 7:30-9:30 and Sundays 8:15-9:00
11:30am - Thursdays 7:30-9:30 and Sundays 10:45-11:30
To accommodate our music ministers' busy lives, the 4:45pm ministry is divided
into two groups that alternate weeks, the 9:00am ministry sings only the first
three Sundays of every month, and the 11:30am ministry has summers off.
We sing an eclectic mix of music primarily from the Gather Comprehensive hymnal
by GIA and from Spirit and Song by OCP.

OTHER MUSIC MINISTRIES

Resurrection Choir - This ensemble is on an on-call basis to sing for funerals
and memorial Masses, with occasional scheduled rehearsals. There is no regular
rehearsal schedule, and the music selections are generally well-known.
Handbell Choir - This ensemble augments our liturgies with the unique sounds of
handbells. Handbell ringing is a wonderful way to learn about music that holds
appeal to both the young and the old. Currently this ensemble rehearses on an
ad-hoc basis.
Youth Choir - This choir is designed for children to learn to sing together. The
Youth Choir sings on an ad-hoc basis during Sunday liturgies and other parish
events.
